Area senior citizens who do not have a photo ID may get one at no charge at the White Stone Fall Festival, organizers have announced. The IDs will be created by Lancaster Union Masonic Lodge No. 88. The festival will be held at White Stone United Methodist Church on Oct. 25 from 9 am to 2 pm. Getting a photo ID will be easy. After filling out some preliminary information, data will be entered into the Masonic’s computer system; several pictures will be taken, as well as a short video and fingerprints. All of this data will be given to the senior citizen or family member on a CD. |

Personal information provided by senior citizen or family member will also be given on a computer generated informational sheet which will include finger prints and a photo. For security reasons and to protect against identity theft, the computer has no memory so once the CD is generated; all information on the CD is no longer available on the computer, the group said. Best of all, there is no charge for this service and no proof of identity paperwork is required. The ID cards could be very helpful in cases of persons with dementia or Alzheimer’s. It’s the perfect way for family members to be able to provide information to authorities in case of a “missing person.” In addition to the Senior ID Program, there will be art/crafts exhibitors, homemade take out Brunswick stew (available by the quart), bake sale, and raffle of items donated by the exhibitors. Local non-profit organizations will also participate in the Festival. booth space is still available for both exhibitors and non-profits, according to Fall Festival co-chair, Frances Stoughton. The Fall Festival is sponsored by White Stone Baptist and White Stone United Methodist Churches with all proceeds to benefit The Family Maternity Center of the Northern Neck, Inc. |
